TONGUES A SIGN? THOUSANDS RECEIVE THE HOLY GHOST BAPTISM DAILY By Editor George Duke YES the Acts 2: experience is being fulfilled today as it was in the beginning of the Church. Today there are literally thousands upon thousands that are receiving their personal experience in receiving Christ the bible way as outlined in Acts chapter 2. But there are those that have failed to receive. Why? Some have sought for it then gave up. If you are in this category I would like to ask you to assess your self because Jesus Christ desires to fill you with his Spirit. Here are some assessments you might consider. 1-Call of God 2- Faith 3-Repentance Let me share my thoughts with you regarding each of these. When you feel the Spirit of God touch your life, this is the call of God. Many err and think I felt him now I am saved. So they stop there. That’s why Jesus said in Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. Realize the call of God then call upon God with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Next you must have faith in God. Many times one receives the call, calls upon God but does not exercise faith. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Many times we give up because of our lack of faith. Then there is also the matter that we may not be having our faith lifted by what we are hearing. If we attend a Assembly that does not practice or preach receiving the Holy Ghost baptism the bible way then we might not have our faith lifted to a higher level. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Last and of upmost necessity is repentance. We will never be filled with the Holy Ghost if we do not repent. Repentance entails our asking in faith for forgiveness of our sins and our willingness to forsake our sins. Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.. If you follow the aforementioned then you will receive. Many question God over the Bible experience of the Holy Ghost baptism. The O.T. Tabernacle was a type and a shadow of things to come and has a great illustration of the new birth. A Levite that was called into the Priesthood had to be fore ordained by offering a sacrifice unto the Lord, Washing in the Brazen Laver, and then being anointed with oil by the High Priest before entering into the Holy place. We today who are called of God must also be ordained of God, by offering our self as a living sacrifice through repentance, being baptized in water in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and allowing our High Priest ( Jesus Christ ) to anoint us with his Holy Spirit. If you have not been anointed then make today the day you are. IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES THE EVIDENCE OF RECEIVING THE HOLY SPIRIT ? Someone made a comment recently that speaking in tongues was a sign of receiving the Holy Spirit that the UPC propagates. Instantly my mind begin to spin around and around with all the scriptures that reveal that speaking in tongues is the Bible sign of receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. What astounded me more was this comment was being made by a person that I had always thought to have received the Baptism in this manner. Today I would like to set out proof from the bible that Speaking in tongues is the only definitive evidence given in the bible as to the infilling of the Holy Spirit. First of all many people mistake and err in the Spirit of God knocking on their door as to being filled with his Spirit. As a result of this they go through life thinking they were filled with the Holy Spirit and in actuality they received the knock but never knew that they had to open the door. Faith and repentance are the only door openers and both must be present for God to accept us. We can verbally say we accept Christ but if we have not Faith and Repentance then he will turn away from our offering. In Topeka Kansas at the Bethel Bible college at the turn of the 20th Century Rev. Parham asked the students to fast, pray, and search the scriptures for the evidence. The outcome of this was that all agreed that speaking in tongues was the evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit, yet none of them had this experience. Here I must add that many Christians when confronted with this issue will normally shy away from seeking for the real Baptism and instead offer excuses why they do not need to receive the Holy Spirit the bible way. The bible declares that in order for a word to be established there has to be 2 or more witness’s. In Acts 2, Act 10, and Acts 19 the description was that the way of receiving the Baptism was by them speaking in Tongues. Yes in each of the examples given there were other things mentioned such as Acts 2 Tongues of fire and a rush ing wind. Acts 10 says they magnified God. Acts 19 states that they prophesied. The fact is none of these things were repeated 2 or three times. As there is no 2nd witness then they can not be construed as the evidence. But they can accompany the evidence. So who were the examples in each of these examples of being filled with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost? Acts 2 were the Disciples and the Jews. Acts 10 was the Gentiles. Acts 19 was the disciples of John the Baptist. The Apostle Paul in his writings to the Church at Corinth was not speaking about the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and the evidence. He was speaking about the gifts of the Spirit that one can be used in after they have the Baptism. As a mater of fact he lets us know that he speaks in tongues and forbids us to forbid others not to. There are many many questions regarding the speaking in other tongues as the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost and I would like for you to read the following. ? IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES REAL? I have learned. that you can’t base an opinion on something just because it’s never happened to you. Just because it’s not happening to me doesn’t mean it’s not real or that others are faking it. We are so quick to judge at times and so quick to shut God out and God never gets a chance to do in us what he always wanted to. We have replaced something that’s real with a judgment or a false accusation. 1. What is speaking in tongues ? – Speaking in tongues merely means to speak in another language (earthly or heavenly that is not your native tongue. 2. Is tongues for today? – God is the same yesterday-today-& forever.  Jesus came to earth and established the New Testament church and in that church they spoke in tongues and were baptized in water in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 1 Corinthians 14: 39 reads – “Do not forbid speaking in tongues.” 3. What’s the point of speaking in tongues? – Well, the bible says: 1 Corinthians 14:4 – “The one who speaks in tongues builds up himself.” Now what better statement is that! So if I don’t speak in tongues I lack the edification I really need everyday. It builds up your spirit man within to speak in tongues. 4. Do people fake it? – Yes. People fake salvation, people fake their prayers people fake who they really are when they go to church on Sunday. So yes-some people may fake it. Kids can fake it because they see another sibling receive it and the attention they get . But that’s not for us to get caught up in. I know in my spirit what is right and I know because the spirit of God gives me discernment to those things 5-Can Satan cause people to speak in tongues? Yes he can especially if one is not sincere or has not truly repented of their sins. FOR THE BIBLE WAY TO RECEIVE THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.READ AND OBEY  ACTS  2:38
