Tithes

The question arises many times about tithing, Is it biblical for Christians today? There are more than the 2 witnesses in the bible that fulfills the requirement to tithe. As a matter of fact there are enough in both the old and new testament to meet this requirement. In the old testament we see Abraham tithing which was before the law, then in the Mosaic law again we see the command. In addition we read in Malachi that the people are cursed because they withhold tithes.  In the New Testament we see Jesus saying for us to not leave it undone in more than one of the accounts of the Gospels. Some may say the words of Jesus in the Gospels were only for the Jews, but if this was so it would have been in Matthew and left out of Luke. Matthew is written for the Jews but Luke is written to the Gentiles.  Also if God is no respecter of persons why would he place the requirement in the New Testament at all? Why should one tithe? In obedience. how should one tithe? Cheerfully. When should a person tithe? First day of the week. Now after I tithe and I find out the money is not used in the way I feel it should be used, what should I do? Nothing other than pray for the one that might be guilty of the misuse. Here is a great policy to follow. Go to church, place your tithe in the offering cheerfully, and as you give it pray and tell God, Lord I give this to you. When you have given in this manner it becomes the Lords and if it is abused or misused then it has become the responsibly of the Lord and not you as you have met your duty and obligation. Do not give your Tithes to the Preacher, give them to the Lord and you will be  blessed. Let god give them to the Minister or Ministry. In retrospect follow this guideline,  1- cheerfully.  2-unto the Lord. 3- believing. No we are not under the law because it is now in our heart to give and support the work of God.

THE ALMOST UNFORGIVABLE SIN?

By George Duke

Matthew 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

I-Story of Jacob and Esau

Gen 25:31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. 32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? 33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.

A-Birthright given to the son was greatest gift Father could pass to the Son

B-Death of the Testator gave the son this right

C-Right of the Son to love and cherish this right until he passed it on

II-All Mankind receive a birthright

A-We all received birthright from Adam

B-That birthright is Death Why?  We are born in sin

Romans 5:14 “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.”

C-No matter how much medical scientist try to prolong life man still has to die

D-Man can not do what only God can do for you

III-God is Life

A-Jesus Christ being God in the flesh came to give life by shedding his blood and life for us

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

B-Jesus paid the price for us to be able to be born again

John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

C-Man must go through God’s transformation and be born again to shed his birthright of sin

D-How can I be born again? Simple follow the recipe given by Peter in Acts2:37,38 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

HAS THE LORD ACCEPTED YOU?

Hebrews 11:4-By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.  5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. 7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

To Accept the Lord Jesus Christ

D-Fact is those that came to the altar came to accept Him

II-Paul stated two parts to coming to God

A-Faith

B-Action –Diligent seeking

C-Result = God’s reward

III-High Priest in the O.T. offered a offering yearly in the Holy of Holies

A-He came in faith

B-He came dressed for the occasion

C-He came prepared to die if the offering was rejected

D-Fire from Heaven would consume the sacrifice if acceptable

IV-On the day of Pentecost in Acts 2

A-They had been diligently praying and seeking God

B-Suddenly God accepted their sacrifice

C-Fire of Pentecost fell upon them

D-People asked what must we do ?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

ARE YOU PREPARED?

By George Duke
2 Peter 3:10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

C-POSITIVE ASSURANCE FOR THE DELIGENT
Act 2: 37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

THEN HE PASSED BY

Mark 10:46-46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me 8 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me

The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Image result for i am glad i am not like that sinner
By George Duke
“Your Honor, I am a Christian, I’m not like that lying, cheating girl over there!” I remember watching People in Court, and hearing the Plaintiff say those very words
I-MY QUESTION TODAY
A-Will your standard save you or cause you to be lost?
B-There are 3 categories of Major sins in the bible
1-Lust of the flesh 2-Lust of the Eye 3-Pride of life
C-Most of us can understand the first 2
D-But it is Pride that many Christians do not understand
II-WHAT IS PRIDE
A-Luke 18:11 best describes one with Pride
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortionists, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
B-Proverbs 16:18 best describes the final results of Pride
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall
C-Pride is what causes many to be the Pharisees of today
D-Many of our so called standards are not sin
1-They might be our downfall rather than the sin we think are in others
III-JESUS WARNED US ABOUT JUDGING
A-Matthew 7:1-3 7 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Issumagijoujunnainermik!

By George Duke
Mark 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
I-FORGIVENESS
A-Hardest command of God to obey
B-We say we forgive but do we?
C-If you can not forget can you say you have forgiven?
D-This is where God can but we can’t
II-EASY TO SAY
A-Forgiveness In the English language it was easy to pronounce
B-But in the Eskimo language there was no single word forgiveness
C-When missionaries first shared the gospel with the Eskimos, they couldn’t find any word in the Eskimo language for forgiveness. So, they took a number of Eskimo words and joined them to form a new word — Issu-magi-jou-jun-nai-ner-mik — and it became the Eskimo word for forgiveness.
D-The individual words are “Not-being-able-to-think-about-it-anymore.”
III-HAZARDS OF UNFORGIVENESS
A-Bitterness, hatred, strife, shame, sorrow, murder
B-Divorce many times caused by unforgiveness

So whenever a hurtful memory comes up, remember the word Issu-magi-jou-jun-nai-ner-mik, and say, “I can’t think about it anymore, it’s in God’s hands.”

THE SAGA OF THE BIRTHRIGHT

By George Duke
Genesis 25:19-34
I-Story of the birth of Jacob and Esau
A-Esau was the firstborn
B-Misunderstood the value of his Birthright
C-Jacob misunderstood the cost to keep that Birthright
II-Man Holds a Birthright
A-His first birthright is Sin & Death
Psalm 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. 5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
B-A birthright passed down from Adam and Eve to all Generations
C-Today all men are born with the birthright of sin & death
1-First thing a child learns on their own is to sin (ie. lie)
III-Jesus Came to give us a new Birthright of Life
John 10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
A-Jesus not only told what he came to do but also How
John 3-1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3-Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see thekingdomofGod. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into thekingdomofGod. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
B-Jesus then paid the price to purchase that right for all that will accept
1-On the 3rd day he overcame death and Hell
2-Before he ascended he promised the new birth
Acts 1 & 2
IV-Man must be born again to overcome his 1st Birthright
Acts 2:38
A-The New birth makes us sons of God
B-It breaks the curse of our old birthright sin and death
C-Today that promise is for you

YOU CAN’T HAVE SIN AND EDEN TOO

By George Duke
Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
I-Eden was paradise for Adam and Eve

II-Adam and Eve could not sin and have Eden too
A-Sin is not a standard but an evil
B-A standard can not save one born in sin
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteous nesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
C-God did provide a means of salvation for man that pushed his sins ahead
D-The Blood
III-As man is born in sin only a rebirth could alter his destiny
A-Jesus told Nicodemus a man had to be born again John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
B-A birth is a miraculous event
C-So is the new birth that Jesus spoke of
D-Man’s desire is to take away the miraculous in this new birt
E-Jesus commands his disciples to wait for it to occur Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city ofJerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
IV-There is only one way to be born again
A-Follow the example given in Acts chapter 2
B-It will start with prayer and a wait
C-It will end with a miracle Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
D-Had the keys and delivered them to us Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
V-It is for you today

THE MINIISTRY OF BEING LET DOWN

Text: Acts 9:25- Samuel 19:12- Mark 2:4

INTRO: My first experience of being let down by Spiritual things

I-PAUL WAS LET DOWN

The disciples took Paul and by night let him down by the wall in a basket (Acts 9:24)

1-First he was let down by the disciples, not the sorry church members ofDamascusthat did it

2-Again Paul was let down in the night, not the day time when you are able to see things

II-DAVID WAS LET DOWN

o Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped. I Samuel 19:12

1-First David was let down by dear friends not enemies-God sometimes uses those close to us to let us down

2-David’s being let down also involved roughness-Many times God allows us to end up bruised

3-After David was let down he was replaced- Michal placed an Idol in bed where David had slept and covered it

so it appeared to be him thus deceiving Saul. Have you ever been replaced?

III-THE PALSIED MAN WAS LET DOWN

1-Like Job we may be let down by people who seem to be helping us

2-By being let down his pride was hurt. Many times our pride is hurt in the church when we trust people rather

than God

3-The men letting him down all worked in harmony in letting him down

IV-WE MUST EXPECT TO BE LET DOWN

1- By our friends

2-By our Brothers and Sisters in the church

3- By our Pastor

V-GOD WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN

1-Everything he allows us to go through is for a purpose

A-Jesus had commanded them to wait inJerusalem     At Jerusalem Jesus fulfilled his promise  John 16: 19″I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”
